communities in Ecuador's Amazon provinces of Pastaza and Napo
are using solar energy and hydro-electric power generated by a waterfall
to improve their quality of life. With aid provided by the Italian
Cooperation, the communities have set up solar-energy panels and
accumulators with the capacity to generate 13.3 kilowatts in six
Pastaza villages.
The
installation of 250 solar Photovoltaic Systems for rural households
by a solar utility in the outer islands of Kiribati was funded by
the Lom
PV Followup Programme in 1995
Solarbank
- SolarBank International Fund is being planned as a global capital fund for
the financing of the end-use markets for solar energy. Sources of capital will
be 50% from SolarBank International Fund and 50% from in-country investors, lenders,
and institutions.
