Venlo, The Netherlands: Scheuten Solar to Install PV System for Partner Logistics

Scheuten Solar has concluded a turnkey EPC and maintenance contract for the installation of nearly 3,000 solar panels with Partner Logistics for its storage premises in Belgium. Funding is provided by Dexia Lease.

The solar panels, with an overall output of 550 kWp, will be installed on the sloping roof of the Partner Logistics building at Rijkevorsel.

Partner Logistics is a leading provider of logistic services specialising in warehousing. The company currently operates twelve warehouses in the Netherlands, Belgium, England and Russia, from which it provides services for leading companies in the foodstuffs sector, among others.

As is evident from this project, sustainable entrepreneurship is important for the company. Given the building’s unfavourable situation as regards solar irradiation, the modules will be placed square on the angle of the roof slope so as to guarantee optimum irradiation. Assembly work will start at the beginning of September and is scheduled for completion in November.

In the words of Jean-Michel Baetslé (CEO Dexia Lease): “Dexia Lease, as market leader in the financing of PV systems in Flanders, is delighted to be able to support this example of sustainable undertaking together with Partner Logistics and Scheuten Solar. This project is possible thanks to the support of the European Investment Bank.”

Anton Mauritz (COO, Partner Logistics) said: “A sustainable supply chain is of importance for our customers. We are happy, in cooperation with Scheuten, to reduce significantly the carbon footprint of our coldstore at Rijkevorsel and thus be a good partner for our customers in the field of sustainability.”

The roof system installation is one of a series of successful projects completed by Scheuten Solar in Belgium in recent years. Ad Verbaas, Director Project Realization stated that: “The installation of the roof system, with its nearly 3,000 solar panels, will take only three months and will be operationally connected to the grid before the end of the year. Cooperation with such reputable parties as Dexia Lease and Partner Logistics shows that Scheuten Solar is also the right partner in Belgium.”
