San
Diego, CA, USA: Siliken to Build PV Module Production Plant in
Ontario
The
Siliken Group of renewable energy companies will open a plant
manufacturing photovoltaic modules in Ontario, Canada, with an
initial production capacity of 50 MW. It could start operations
in the last quarter of 2010.
Siliken
is completing the choice of location and the necessary legal paperwork
in order to set this plant in motion. The production plant will
create approximately 150 direct jobs in Ontario. The manufactured
equipment will produce clean power equalling the consumption of
roughly 19,000 households.
The
new plant will join the other Siliken plants that are currently
productive in Valencia (Spain) and San Diego (California, USA).
It is to absorb the demand for PV equipment which started to grow
since bonuses for power production (FIT Program) have been introduced
for photovoltaic installations in Ontario and since the introduction
of positive discrimination of the product manufactured in this
province under the new legislation.
Siliken
says the company is one of the most prestigious modules manufacturers
in Europe and one of the most agile in starting new production
installations, as it designs and produces its own machinery.
With
this operation, the Siliken group will strengthen its current
international business presence, operating in Spain, Italy, France,
Czech Republic, Greece, Belgium, the Netherlands and the United
States. It will also increase its production capacity to 250 MW,
created in the production plants in Valencia and San Diego.
